Rockbed

Rockbed is based on the flowing lines of an African river that sometimes flows with swirling water and sometimes runs dry showing its rocky base.  A curved river bed runs through the design connecting the 2 parts of land.  Smooth boulders and swirls of plants flow through the rock bed river base.  On the banks, abundant bankside planting surrounds craggy land boulders and a man made ford crosses the river allowing access to the house. Different forms of stone complement each other, cor-ten steel provides a contrast and planting softens and invites nature and the user to participate.  A memorial area is a place of contemplation.
